Matthew has had a keen interest in engineering since finishing his education in 2018 which led him to join the Royal Navy, beginning training in a Mechanical Engineering role. In his pursuit of challenge, he transferred to commission as an officer in the Royal Marines in 2020 and completed commando training. This ultimately led him to hold responsibility for the augmentation of the Royal Navy’s engineering response to the hurricane season in the Caribbean. There he developed an understanding of the cost of extreme weather events to British protectorates and overseas territories, which in turn inspired him to pursue renewable energy projects after leaving the military. He joined ReEnergise in 2023.
